Chinese New Year
Yesterday was Chinese New Year so I cooked a special Chinese meal for my housemates. I made lettuce wraps (with Chicken) and Ma Po Tofu (Chinese comfort food) along with the usual rice for dinner. The menu was made possible by the fact that I managed to befriend the owners of the local Asian food store so I was able to get cooking advice and such. For dessert, I made "Tong Yuen" (glutinous dessert rice balls with sesame and sugar inside them) served with a ginger sweet soup base. That turned out pretty good too, especially since I made the balls the night before. It is actually my year (the year of the rooster) but since I'm over here, it is unlikely I'll be getting lucky money.
